What if you reached the crag… by canoe? Escanoë combines a Dordogne river descent with climbing at the water’s edge in a single outing. A formula unique to the Dordogne Valley, from age 7.
What is Escanoë?
Simple and irresistible: paddle down the Dordogne (1h or 2h descent), land at the foot of a limestone cliff only reachable from the river, climb above the water, then paddle on. Two of the valley’s flagship activities, no car in between.
The perfect outing if you can’t choose between climbing and canoeing — or if you want to experience the Dordogne differently.
How the outing works
- Briefing and gear: buoyancy aids, paddles, helmets, harnesses — all provided.
- Canoe descent: learn to paddle straight, read the river and pass small rapids.
- Climbing by the water: top-rope routes adapted to the group, supervised by a state-certified instructor.
- Paddle back down, with a swim in summer.
